Guide Review - YMCA Hong Kong - The Salisbury

Like many things in Hong Kong, the city's flagship YMCA hostel is far from the ordinary. While YMCA hostels around the world vary from functional to run-down, Hong Kong's Salisbury YMCA is possibly the most opulent in the world.

This is completely unlike the usual YMCA hostelling experience, and the Salisbury definitely falls into hotel quality. In fact, the Sailsbury boasts rooms spacier than some of Hong Kong's four and five star hotels.

Free newspapers, pool and jacuzzi propel the Sailsbury into Hong Kong's four star class of hotels. [p/]

Set on the waterfront of Tsim Sha Tsui East, the hotel has a fantastic location, positioned right next to The Peninsula, considered by some to be Hong Kong's most prestigious hotel. Many of the Salisbury's rooms offer excellent harbour views, which generally cost the earth and stars in Hong Kong.

While the price is slightly more than YMCA hostels around the world, for the quality you get, the Salisbury is one of the best deals in town and cheaper by 50% than most of Hong Kong's three-star hotels and certainly much better.
