Hong Kong is not a traditional Christmas destination, but the city, as always, strives to put on a good show. Christmas events in Hong Kong range from the traditional Nutcracker to Slava the Clowns on-stage antics. Cinderella the Panto - December 7th
This time-honoured, British Christmas tradition reaches Hong Kong with a classically cheesy retelling of the Cinderella story. A Panto is very much a family event and as the stepsisters and the Prince bumble around the stage in front of you, the audience is encouraged to throw out some classic heckles such Hes behind you!.Great for the kid. Christmas Magic Concert with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta - December 12th and 13th
Get into the festive spirit with a first class carolling concert by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. The concert is squarely aimed at kids with favourites such as Jingle Bells and Silent night set to bring out the Karaoke Queen in the kids. Tickets HK$100-HK$200 from Urbtix.
Disneys Sparkling Christmas 23rd November 2nd January
Disney will be decking the halls and turning the park into a winter wonderland for the holiday period well as much as you can in the sub-tropics. Fairy lights, Santa and an arsenal of fireworks mean few places do Christmas better than Disney.The traditional Disney parade will be given a festive make over with snowfall and ice sculptures setting the scene. The Nutcracker 19th -27th December
The original Christmas show turns up for its annual Christmas showing in Hong Kong. The Nutcracker, with its dancing Plum Fairy, is a family favourite and sure to keep the kids entertained. Tickets HK$120 HK$1,100. See Hong Kong Ballet for more details.
Christmas Carollers - Throughout December
Spreading cheer throughout the city, bands of carollers will be travelling around on open top buses and trams belting out Christmas classics. The carollers will appear on both Hong Kong side in trams, including Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Central, and Kowloon side, in buses including Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok. Unfortunately, there is no schedule but if you spend enough time out hitting the shopping trail you're sure to bump into them.
