Air Asia is one of the worlds first long-haul budget airlines and offers cheap flights from London to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is an Air Asia hub, so even if youre destination is Hong Kong and Macau, Thailand, Australia and beyond, flying into Malaysia with Air Asia and connecting, can still be cheaper than flying with traditional airlines. The Air Asia arm that operates the airlines long-haul flights is actually Air Asia X, although when booking youll see no difference between Air Asia and Air Asia X.
Prices with Air Asia
Flying from London to Kuala Lumpur, one way tickets can be purchased for as low as £190, including all taxes. This is the economy promo price. Standard prices seem to come in around the £220 -£250, with taxes included. This is excellent value for money, and even if you have to shell out another £50 to connect regionally, youll still be saving money.
Where and When Does Air Asia Fly to London
Air Asia flies directly from London Stansted to Kuala Lumpur five days a week.
Whats Onboard? (Should I Expect the Ryanair Experience)
The flights dont actually start until March 29th, so were not sure what Air Asia has in store for passengers. If previous long haul airline, Oasis, is anything to go by, you can expect most of the usual luxuries, seat back screens, free beverages, but with a few drawbacks, quite simply awful food and slightly smaller leg room at seats.
Air Asia X already offers long-haul flights between Kuala Lumpur and Australia, and a few of the drawbacks on those flights include checking in at Kuala Lumpurs chaotic budget terminal, seats that dont recline, and non assigned seating when boarding. Whether these will be repeated on the London route has yet to be confirmed.
Stay tuned, and well bring you all the inside information once we get it from Air Asia.
