Like many of Hong Kong’s outlying communities, Sai Kung was once little more than a quaint fishing village; today it’s emerged as one of Hong Kong’s most popular weekend getaways, offering a low rise, laidback appeal with all the amenities of the city.
The main pull here is the first class seafood, hauled directly off boats on the seafront promenade and whisked away to the rows of al-fresco seafood restaurants. The town is also an excellent base picking up a kaido or sampan and exploring nearby deserted islands or hiking into the lush countryside that carpets the area.
