A day at the Mongkok markets

Despite critics constantly taking pot shots at them for becoming too touristy, Hong Kong's markets remain part of many Hong Kongers daily routine and yes, they are also popular with tourists.

With more markets than anywhere else Mongkok is a one stop shop for all your shopping needs. You've got the Bird Market, the Goldfish Market, the Flower Market and the Ladies Market. You're unlikely to make a purchase at all of them, unless you're on the lookout for a tuneful mockingbird or pair of lucky goldfish, but they are well worth the visit for the spectacle of colour and the energy of the crowds.

For those more interested in actually filling their basked the Ladies Market does a great line in cheap Chinese curios and knock off handbags from across the border. Find out more in our guide to Mongkok markets.
