With a substantial Buddhist population and in Cantonese cuisine a genuine enjoyment of fresh vegetables Hong Kong is a bit of hidden destination for vegetarian foodies.

From the Chinese population to the western expat and Indian expat community there is a passion for vegetarian food that goes beyond a salad loaded with some extra leaves or curry with the chicken fished out. Eating vegetarian food in Hong Kong is not a limitation and leaves the door open to trying many different cuisines as well as some genuinely designer dishes.

In our top five Hong Kong vegetarian restaurants we've picked a balance of the best Chinese, Indian and western restaurants to pick up some meat free food.
