St Patrick's Day in Hong Kong

By March 10, 2010

Follow me on:

Those looking to raise a glass or seven on March 17th won't be too hard pressed to find the nearest Guinness dispenser. While events in Hong Kong are low key compared to some other Asian cities, the Irish community is active and the parties will be full blooded.

The focus of the celebrations is the St Patrick's Society Ball on March 13th, which is unfortunately long since sold out.

On St Patrick's Day itself, there is a Mass at St Joseph's Church at 8.45am and a wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph at 11am. If you're looking to meet natives from the Emerald Isle and put that legendary drinking reputation to the test, you'll find them toasting the old country at Dublin Jacks in Lan Kwai Fong and Delaneys in Wan Chai, both of which will have live traditional music.
