It was never going to be pretty, from New York to Tokyo few cities outside Europe have been happy with their Michelin Guide. Hong Kong is not, not happy, it’s enraged.
The good news is that this guide dishes up the first three stars for a Chinese chef. The bad news is, well where to begin, bad selection, both of judges and restaurants, too few Chinese restaurants and too many luxury eateries and no local Hong Kongers on the judging panel. And that’s just the start, local food critics have savaged the book released today. See below for our review of the book.
