Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland is still in its infancy, and in its first two years has been forced to weather a storm of controversy and criticism. From serving the environmentally reprehensible shark fin soup, to visiting Chinese mainlanders attempting to storm the gates on mass, the Disney dream has been far from smooth.

The park is Disney’s second in Asia, and despite the criticism, Disneyland Hong Kong has continued to attract the crowds. The addition of two new rides in 2006, with another two promised in 2007, is sure to keep the park at the top of many peoples must-visit list.

Read our Hong Kong Disneyland Review to find out all about the park – warts and all.

You know, I think Disney parks are always controversial. The French absolutely hated the arrival of Disneyland Paris, but now it’s the top attraction in France. I was living in Northern Virginia when environmentalists and activists successfully fought off plans for a history-themed Disney park there.
