Fly For Less
Monday November 27, 2006
Oasis Airlines, which launched from Hong Kong just over a month ago, aims to be the world's first low-cost, long-haul airline. Flying daily from Hong Kong to London Gatwick, the airline's ticket prices are generally half the price of a standard ticket; single economy is a steal at only $130 and business class at $770, a snip of the normal price. The airline had a bumpy start, after not fully applying for permission to fly over Russian airspace, which seems a little forgetful. Flights were delayed and redirected, however permission has now been granted and early teething troubles soothed over. The airline has already made an impact on other carriers and prices to London have started to drop. Oakland and Chicago are apparently in the pipeline, although reports suggest this may be a year away. Oasis Airlines.
